Mobile Grooming

mobile-groomingHave you ever considered the idea of Mobile Grooming? Imagine that… pet grooming on wheels. Lots of people are doing it and with good reason. First of all, heh, why not! There are so many dog and cat owners out there that want to hire a groomer to clean and fix up their pets. Talk about a real convenience. Imagine the convenience and benefits to the customer.

Step One:
Learn to Groom. That’s why you’re on this site and in our mailing list. You may want to learn to groom all kinds of breeds. Some groomers pick a breed to become expert in then promote themselves as that breeds groomer. In this case it is wise to pick a breed that needs grooming regularly and that is a popular breed owned by many in your area. Poodles, for example are such a breed. Poodles always need to be groomed and have long been a very beloved and popular breed.

Step Two:
Let people know you are in the business. This doesn’t have to be expensive. You could take out some ads in the yellow pages, Craigs List and the Penny Saver. But you know what? When you get your grooming van up and running, you’ll have a huge billboard out there on the streets. Make sure your van signage is big and bold. Make sure it’s really pretty and appealing. Have your website and phone number prominent.

Step Three:

Set up your Mobile Grooming vehicle. If you’re just starting out, you don’t need an expensive, elaborate vehicle. The dream would be a Dodge Sprinter, or the like, but it doesn’t have to be. There are many used vehicles for sale on the internet and in trader magazines. Just get it set up with the proper plumbing for a bathing tub, electricity and room for you to do your magic. Be sure to purchase a quality Grooming Van. A van should have the features to maintain the proper amount of water to do the number of animals you plan to groom in a day. The vans should also have a good water heating system and enough electricity to handle your grooming clippers and a couple of dryers all at once.

Step Four:
Get a business license from your local town hall. You should also consider having liability insurance.

Step Five:

Continue promoting. One of the fastest ways we know of getting yourself known is with a website. We highly recommend hiring Inland Empire Web Services. They are not only familiar with the dog grooming business, but they are powerful experts with Internet Marketing. You can have a blog-based website up at a very reasonable price. Here’s their link. Phone: 714-532-0147. You can also have some flyers made up and take them to local veterinarians, animal services and professional trainers in town. It doesn’t hurt at all to get to know your competition.

If you take heed of these 5 steps and work within your means, you will have a thriving Mobile Grooming business up very quickly.
